The Poplar Plywood Backed CTP Panel combines a GRP / CTP skin with XPS insulation foam and poplar plywood (kavak kontra). The plywood is the backing layer that gives screw holding and stiffness; XPS provides thermal insulation and the CTP skin gives a durable, easy-to-clean surface. See the main CTP Panel page for the general build.
The panel has an outer CTP (glass-fibre reinforced polyester) skin, an XPS insulation core and a poplar plywood layer. The build documented for Yön Panel’s CTP panel line is 1.5+1.5 mm CTP, 30–100 mm XPS and 6 mm poplar plywood, pressed together on an automated machine line. XPS thickness is chosen to match the project’s insulation needs.
Foam-only panels may need extra reinforcement for screws, hinges or fittings. The poplar plywood layer gives those fixings a solid base and adds sheet stiffness. Poplar is a light timber, which helps keep total panel weight low — an advantage for vehicle-mounted applications.
Used where light weight, insulation and fixing strength are needed together: caravan bodies and interiors, refrigerated bodies, trailers, ambulances and mobile kitchens.
CTP Birch Plywood CTP uses birch plywood, and the XPS Panel has no wood layer at all. The poplar plywood backed panel suits projects that want XPS insulation plus a plywood backing. For sizes, surface and pricing, use the contact page.
